We are currently looking for an enthusiastic and compassionate Children’s Support Worker to join a supportive service in Birmingham, working with children and young people, including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about helping children develop their confidence, independence, communication and social skills in a safe, fun and inclusive environment.

The Role

You will support the delivery of engaging Stay and Play sessions, short break activities, Parent and Child Support Sessions and Family Works programmes, helping children and families achieve positive outcomes.

Your responsibilities will include:

Delivering fun, engaging and inclusive activities that support children’s learning and development.
Supporting children and young people with SEND on a one-to-one basis and in small groups.
Building positive, trusting relationships with children, young people and their families.
Encouraging confidence, independence, communication, social interaction and life skills.
Supporting families through practical guidance and encouragement.
Helping children access community activities and develop their social skills.
Providing personal care where required, always maintaining dignity, privacy and respect.
Supporting with medication where appropriately trained and authorised.
Promoting safeguarding and the welfare of children and young people at all times.
Completing accurate records, case notes, attendance registers and incident reports.
Following risk assessments, individual support plans and behaviour support strategies.
Working closely with colleagues, families, schools, social workers and other professionals.
Maintaining a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment.
Attending team meetings, supervision and mandatory training.

Experience working with children, young people, SEND, family support or within a care/support setting would be highly beneficial.
