Waking Night Support Worker
Location: Blackwood
Pay Rate: £14.50–£15.25 per hour

Are you an experienced and compassionate Support Worker seeking flexible agency work? We are looking for dedicated Waking Night Support Workers to provide high-quality overnight care and support to adults with a variety of support needs in the Blackwood area.

This rewarding role offers the opportunity to make a genuine difference in people’s lives by promoting safety, independence, and wellbeing throughout the night. As part of a trusted care team, you will deliver person-centred support while benefiting from the flexibility and variety that agency work can offer.

A valid All Wales Manual Handling Passport is essential for this position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver person-centred overnight support tailored to each individual’s assessed needs, preferences, and care plans.
  • Provide personal care, continence support, and assistance with bedtime and morning routines while maintaining dignity and respect.
  • Carry out regular wellbeing checks and ensure individuals remain safe, comfortable, and supported throughout the night.
  • Accurately complete care records, incident reports, and handover notes to maintain continuity of care.
  • Offer emotional reassurance and support to individuals who may experience anxiety, distress, or sleep disturbances.
  • Assist with mobility and transfers using approved moving and handling techniques in accordance with current legislation and best practice.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to emergencies, safeguarding concerns, and challenging situations.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and secure environment, undertaking light domestic duties where required.
  • Work effectively both independently and as part of a wider multidisciplinary team.

Requirements

  • Valid All Wales Manual Handling Passport (Essential)
  • Minimum of 6 months’ UK-based experience in a care or support setting
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • A caring, patient, and professional approach
  • Ability to remain alert and responsive during waking night shifts
  • Flexible and reliable with a commitment to delivering high standards of care
  • Ability to work independently and use initiative when required
