Support Worker, Torfaen, £14.50-15.25 p/h
We are looking for a compassionate, dependable, and enthusiastic agency Support Worker to join our team. In this rewarding role, you will support individuals with learning disabilities both in their own homes and within the local community, empowering them to live as independently as possible while promoting dignity, choice, and inclusion. Every day offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in someone’s life.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide person-centred support with daily living activities, including personal care, meal preparation, and household tasks, ensuring each individual’s needs and preferences are respected.
- Build positive, supportive relationships by offering companionship and emotional support, helping to reduce loneliness and promote wellbeing.
- Encourage and enable individuals to maintain their independence by supporting them to access community activities, appointments, education, or employment opportunities.
- Assist with mobility and transfers using safe Moving and Handling techniques, always maintaining the individual’s comfort, safety, and dignity.
- Support individuals who may present behaviours of concern, responding with patience, professionalism, and a positive approach to create a safe and supportive environment.
- Encourage individuals to achieve their personal goals, develop life skills, and enjoy fulfilling, meaningful lives.
Skills & Experience
- At least six months’ UK experience in care or supporting individuals with learning disabilities.
- Proven experience supporting individuals with challenging behaviour.
- A caring, patient, and positive attitude with a genuine passion for supporting others.
- The ability to work well as part of a team while also being confident working independently.
- Reliable, flexible, and committed to delivering high-quality, person-centred care.
